Science of Motivation

Dan Pink discusses the results of research that shows that incentive programs only work for rule based tasks with well defined goals. Incentive programs almost never work for task that require "Out of the Box" or creative thinking. Creative motivation involves thoughts of
  • the work being part of something bigger than ourselves
  • the work is important
  • the work matters
  • and people enjoy what they are doing.
