At 0600 ET, Squawk Box on CNBC was delayed due to technical problems, and Europe Power Lunch was shown instead. This reminds me of 1999-2000 when I spent 13 months in China watching primarily CNBC Europe rather than CNBC US. I found that I preferred the European version better than the US version. The Europeans put more emphasis on technical analysis and opinions of traders rather than brokers, which I prefer. CNBC US at that time interviewed brokers who made their millions collecting commissions rather than from trading. So, most of their advice was buy and hold for the long term rather than actually working, analyzing the markets for real trading opportunities.
I have been wondering if foreigners prefer Obama due to a perception that he may be less militarily hawkish. People maybe surprised by a President Obama. He has said many times that Afghanistan is a war that most be won. We may actually see an expansion of a US military presence in that part of the world with a President Obama. Every new US President knows that he or she will be tested militarily, and that powerful response is required. Well, perhaps Carter was an exception. But, all others know this.
