Lately, if there is a big move in the afternoon, it will probably occur in the last half hour. The only thing that may have predicted an up move this afternoon is that the long term average of the $TICK on the 1 minute chart stayed above zero all day. If there was going to be a move, it probably was going to be to the upside.

$add in the 2nd half of the session was also positive while ES was in decent minus for a while. Entered long after nice VWAP test and quickly fixed near ytd's highs.
